Supplied by Kevin Fraser at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland of Inverness, the duo were specified with Volvo's FE Comfort Cab that offers increased interior space and storage solutions for the driver. Williamson Foodservice also opted for Volvo's additional factory-fitted, lower kerbside passenger door window to increase safety standards, making pedestrians and vulnerable road users more visible.

Powered by Volvo's D8K engine producing 280hp, the FEs are also fitted with I-Shift automated gearboxes and rear-air suspension. The Euro-6 engines are coupled with a more efficient, twin condenser, Carrier Supra refrigeration unit, both of which are designed to minimise environmental impact. Both trucks benefit from a five-year, Volvo Gold Contract which guarantees the best possible uptime and carefree ownership.

Currently marking its 60th year in business, Williamson Foodservice chose Gray & Adams temperature-controlled bodies for the new Volvos. However, the anniversary theme continues further with Volvo Trucks presently marking 50 years in the UK, along with Gray & Adams, who are also marking 60 years since their founding in Fraserburgh.

Williamson Foodservice is the north of Scotland's leading fresh fruit and vegetable distributor and full service wholesaler to the foodservice, catering and retail sectors. The new Volvo FE-280 trucks will be used to deliver a wide range of food and drink products to hotels, restaurants, cafes and retailers across the Highlands.

Gary Williamson, Managing Director at Williamson Foodservice said: "Our 1,200 customers have a multitude of food or drink requirements and they are spread over one of the UK's most challenging distribution areas. We require vehicles that are well equipped, robust and reliable enough to deal with long distance runs over single track roads that are regularly subject to extreme changes in weather. Also, it almost goes without saying that our customer orders must arrive in the freshest condition and on time. Our new Volvo FE rigids tick all the boxes."

He added, "Partnering with Volvo Trucks and Gray & Adams means we can confidently move forward with a state-of-the-art vehicle combination that has a reduced environmental impact and will deliver increased levels of customer satisfaction. We are delighted to mark our 60th anniversary with the purchase of these two eye-catching FE rigids, which incorporate our new branding."
