The Volvo FH has secured your profitability since 1993. That’s just the start
Ever since its launch twenty-five years ago, the Volvo FH has set new standards in trucking. Not the least when it comes to productivity and profitability for your business. To celebrate this, you all get a gift—a promise that the Volvo FH will keep driving progress. This means an even more outstanding uptime, new and groundbreaking safety thinking and solutions that speed up the race towards zero emissions.
In 1993, Volvo Trucks introduced the world to the most the advanced truck yet: the Volvo FH.
With features like the D12A engine and Volvo Engine Brake, the technical specs impressed. But maybe even more impressive was the focus on the driver. The Volvo FH was – and continues to be – a driver’s dream. The new cabin acknowledged the situation for drivers. The truck is a workplace not only when driving, but also when resting or sleeping. Through extensive testing with more than 1,500 drivers and truck users, Volvo Trucks was able to construct a new cabin from the bottom up that created a whole new experience. “We put the driver at the centre stage. And we still do,” says Mats Karlsson Lindh, Director Product Planning at Group Trucks Technology. Today, the Volvo FH continues to advance the trucking experience. With features like the unique Volvo Dynamic Steering, that perfects the steering control and reduces driver strain injuries at the same time, Volvo Trucks keeps driving the progress forward.
When the Volvo FH truck was created, it was part of a wider plan at Volvo Trucks. One of the things that made the Volvo FH so great from the beginning was the new chassis. It was designed as the ground from which all other engineers could build upon. This created stability and creativity – and also laid the ground for future successful truck lines. One of the main advantages that the Volvo FH had at launch was that it centered in on the driver. The cab was designed after countless tests with real drivers. It was with their needs in mind that every decision was made. This resulted in a cab that really impressed the market. The Volvo FH was not just a place for driving – it was also a place for livin. Volvo Engine Brake gave the Volvo FH great braking power from the start. Reducing stress on the wheel brakes – and allowing higher average speed in hilly terrain with increased safety.
