It’s something skilled drivers already do, but it can be difficult to predict the road ahead throughout an eight hour shift.  That’s where I-See, Volvo Trucks’ predictive cruise control comes into play.  Using map-based topography data, I-See knows the gradients of the road ahead and communicates with the engine and I-Shift transmission to maximise the truck’s kinetic energy, saving up to 5%* fuel and reducing your CO2, too.

Volvo’s highly efficient D13TC engine with Turbo Compound technology reuses excess heat and energy from exhaust gases to deliver more torque to the crankshaft.  So it’s easier to keep a steady speed, as fewer accelerations means less fuel is used delivering a quieter, smoother drive as well as cost savings.  Volvo’s patented wave-shaped pistons make every burn more efficient by guiding heat and energy to the centre of each cylinder so less energy is lost as heat.
