The Volvo FM 4x2 rigid joins a fleet of 16 sweepers and a fleet of commercials that provide McGovern Plant Hire's diverse range of related services. The chassis was supplied by Darren Cartner, Transport Solutions Executive at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland, direct to Stocks Sweepers for fitment of a Quad Vac body.

The 4,000mm wheelbase FM is fitted with a Globetrotter Cab and a Volvo D11K Euro-6 engine producing 330hp. A 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission system drives an RSS1356 single reduction axle with a ratio of 3.44:1.

The high ground clearance chassis features front parabolic steel spring and rear air suspension. In addition to high visibility yellow paintwork with contrasting navy background, McGovern Plant Hire branding, the new Volvo sports Alcoa Dura-Bright EVO alloy wheels shod with Bridgestone tyres.

The high specification Stocks Sweepers Quad Vac body is the fourth of its type at McGovern Plant, who also have another two similar models on order. Its specification includes a 9.0 cubic metre capacity hopper, a 93KW JCB engine and an XL 800mm suction fan.

A standard fit, 35-point automatic lubrication system is also fitted, alongside full width rear suction equipment that includes an additional 200 bar high-pressure water pump.

"The extensive high and low pressure washing systems will prove ideal for end of site, extra cleaning works and our sweeper fleet works also well with McGovern Plant's Waste management company," notes John Byde, Transport Manager at McGovern Plant Hire.

To provide industry leading safety and visibility levels, a four-camera CCTV system is joined by a large array of LED work lights, repeater lenses and laminated Chapter 8 chevrons on the rear hopper door.

John continues, "We work all over the UK and the new Volvo has already been in operation at both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. There are also have sweeper vehicles working on a nationwide basis, including the current Aberdeen Western Perimeter Ring Road project.

Our Volvo flagship is a fantastic vehicle and we'll use our local Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London dealerpoint for a service contract. Our business expansion is based on good people and good products like Volvo trucks. I really value the on-going commitment from our valued staff team, who deliver top service levels to our customer base."
