The company also collect over 70 million litres of waste oil a year which is used to refine Processed Fuel Oil (PFO), an environmentally-compliant alternative to virgin fuel, which is either exported or used within the quarrying and power industries.
Supplied by Andy Cross, Transport Solutions Executive at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, the FM rigids are fitted with Volvo's Globetrotter LXL Cab, D11K engines producing 410hp and 12 speed I-Shift automated transmission systems. The FMs' 4100mm wheelbase chassis includes a nine-tonne front axle up front of a 27-tonne rear bogie design, which is unique to the Tridem layout. The double drive axles have a ratio of 2.83:1.
Slicker Recycling Ltd opted for a Rolba Super Combi vacuum tanker bodies, which include high pressure jetting pumps, vacuum pumps and suction hose reels, all connected to stainless steel, 4,000 gallon tank cylinders. Easy to operate, remote control handsets add to safety in operation.
"We will use the new FM Tridems for collecting waste sludges and sediment from oil and water separators," reports Mark Olpin, Managing Director at Slicker Recycling Ltd. adding, "The capacity and weight capability of Volvo's chassis makes it ideal for interceptor cleaning."
The new vehicles will further extend Slicker Recycling's market-leading service offering to their ever-growing portfolio of clients, including some of the UK's largest forecourt operators, like Asda, Motor Fuel Group, and Euro Garages.
