Supplied by Richard Cochrane, Transport Solutions Executive at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland Aberdeen, the new Volvo FH 6x2 mid-lift tractor unit is powered by D13K Euro-6 engine rated at 500hp. The 3900mm wheelbase chassis was also specified with a Globetrotter Cab and a sliding fifth wheel, in addition to a Power Take Off (PTO) and hydraulic kit.
The new FH arrival is the first new Volvo truck to arrive at Keenan Recycling as, although the company already operates another two Volvos, they were bought as used vehicles.
“Our Volvo FH has now been in service for approximately three months and its proved very reliable,” notes Grant Keenan, Managing Director at Keenan Recycling, adding, “We are using the FH to haul a tanker trailer that travels between Aberdeenshire and Central Scotland every day. It transports out of date food to be processed into biofuel.”
The firm’s three Volvo trucks are part of a 32-strong, food waste collection fleet that provide an essential service to a wide range of customer types. “We cover the whole of Scotland and have recently opened a new depot in Newcastle,” Grant reports.
Keenan Recycling also opted for a Volvo Gold Service Contract, which guarantees 100 per cent uptime and complete peace of mind for the operator.
Rood Signs of Inverurie supplied Keenan Recycling’s distinctive vehicle livery and Grant describes driver feedback on the latest Volvo FH as “extremely positive.”
As Grant concludes, “The sales and service process with Richard Cochrane was also good and I consider Volvo Trucks to a quality brand with the right approach to business.”
