In one of the largest orders received in Europe to date, Quattro Group of Stratford, East London has taken delivery of sixteen Volvo FH16-750 6x2 tag axle tractor units.

Supplied by the Avonmouth sales team of Truck and Bus Wales and West Ltd., the group of sixteen FH16-750s were handed over at special presentation in early March, where John Murphy, Managing Director of Quattro Group accepted the Volvo trucks from Billy Nairn, Managing Director at Truck and Bus Wales and West Ltd.

Powered by Volvo’s top option D16K Euro-6 engine producing 750hp and 3550Nm of torque, the FH16s also come equipped with I-Shift Crawler gearboxes, single reduction drive axles with a ratio of 3.40:1 and range-topping Globetrotter XL Cabs. Complementing the interior specifications are leather trims in addition to Drive+ and Living Two Bed+ packages and the fleet of 3,200mm wheelbase twin-tyre, tag axle tractor units were all supplied on a four-year contract hire agreement that includes Volvo Service Contracts.

The Medium chassis height tractor units ride on front steel, rear air suspension systems and will be used across the UK on plant transport operations up to STGO Category 2 weight limits. Quattro Group opted for heavy-duty Fontaine fifth wheels and vertical exhaust stacks. The latter components reduce dust levels when operating off-road.

Quattro Group has prioritised safety with its new FH16-750s, which come with additional strobe and spotlights, together with a Side Scan system to detect vulnerable road users or pedestrians. The Volvos have also been fitted with additional forward facing and nearside cameras.

John Murphy, Chief Executive at Quattro Group said, “Our continuing partnership with Volvo, demonstrates the joint commitment of both parties to provide and use the latest and best vehicles available to ensure our fleet is delivered in a safe, environmentally-friendly and efficient manner.”
