Surrey based, Britaniacrest Recycling Ltd has taken delivery of nine new Volvo trucks to boost its operations in the south east of England. The group of FE, FMX and FH models join a Volvo predominated fleet of over 45 vehicles.

Our strong working partnership with MC Truck and Bus Ltd, permits us to focus on our day to day operations,” notes Richard Foss, Director at Britaniacrest Ltd. “There is no long, drawn out process with vehicle ordering, I just call up Sales Director Steve Moon and tell him what we need. He knows our preferred specifications inside out, so one phone call is all it takes,” Richard adds.

Eight of the new Volvos’ delivered are rigid chassis and these were all ordered with factory fitted lower passenger door glazing panels for increased safety levels. Two 18 tonne FE 4x2 skip loaders were specified with D8K engines producing 250hp and Hyva skip loader bodies with the maker’s Easy Sheet systems. “In the past we’ve used Volvo FL skip vehicles, but the I-Shift gearbox is a big attraction with the FEs. The drivers love it, it needs no intervention,” Richard notes.

The six Volvo FMX 8x4’s all come with 5.1m wheelbases, 460hp engines and day cabs. Four of the group are tipper trucks with Thompson Loadmaster 13 cubic metre bodies and Edbro CX15 hydraulic systems. Another FMX is a tipper grab; again with a Loadmaster body and an Epilson crane with bucket and rotator. This truck also uses an Edbro TS32 under floor tipping ram.

Last but not least in the rigid group is an FMX hook loader with Hyva Titan 26-56 equipment. The sole FH tractor unit is fitted with a Globetrotter Cab on an Extra-High chassis with rear air suspension. This 3.2m wheelbase FH is powered by a D13K engine rated at 540hp and like the rigid group, is equipped with alloy wheels, additional work, strobe and warning lights, plus a FORS Gold specification six camera system.

The new group will work across Britaniacrest Recycling’s network of depots and all came with three year Volvo Blue Service Contracts, which will be carried out by MC Truck and Bus Ltd.’s Burgess Hill dealerpoint. “Our skip loader fleet operates relatively locally, whilst the tippers cover a larger area that includes the south east and south coast. The FH and FMX tractor units haul moving floor trailers across a wider operating sphere. That said though, virtually every driver is home every night. Volvo makes a good all round, strong and reliable truck. Our drivers find them comfortable and they are the ideal fleet vehicle,” concludes Richard.
