NEWS SUMMARY:
Supplied by Matt Kubot, Transport Solutions Executive at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the vehicles arrive as direct replacements for older Volvo FH models in the customer’s 24-strong commercial vehicle fleet, of which the majority are Volvo-supplied.
Natalie Fraser, Resources Manager, Debach, says: “Volvo Trucks has been a part of our business from the beginning and continues to be today. As we mark our 50th year in business, these new FH Aero tractor units are a fantastic addition to our fleet.
“With the amount of mileage our drivers cover each week, fuel efficiency was a key factor in our decision to go with the FH Aero. We’re confident that the aerodynamic design will offer us the performance and fuel savings we’re looking for, while also providing a comfortable environment for our drivers to work in.”
Modern technology delivers benefits for both business and drivers
The FH Aeros each feature a Euro VI-compliant D13TC Step E engine that leverages turbo compounding to produce up to 460 hp and a peak torque of 2,600 Nm, paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox and I-See predictive cruise control to yield significant sustainability benefits.
The company’s two new tractor units will be deployed on UK-wide distribution work, typically operating five days a week and covering up to 150,000 km annually.
Reflecting the high utilisation of the fleet, one truck will also undertake a nightly trunking operation to the Palletforce hub in Burton upon Trent, running five nights a week.
The trucks’ Globetrotter cabs have each been equipped to ensure a premium working environment. The additions include leather upholstery, dual armrests, a 33-litre fridge/freezer, bottle holders, additional cab storage, plus a full media and navigation package, all of which complement the tractor units’ rear air suspension.
Volvo’s Camera Monitoring System (CMS) is also equipped. Replacing the traditional exterior mirrors, CMS helps to boost aerodynamic performance. The system increases the driver’s field of view, and also performs strongly in rainy and dark conditions, in direct sunlight, and even when driving in tunnels.
“The CMS was something totally new for us, as we’ve never run vehicles with digital mirrors before,” adds Fraser. “Whenever you introduce new technologies, there’s obviously a bit of apprehension, but the feedback we’ve had from our drivers has actually been very positive.”
Expected to remain on the fleet for at least four years, the trucks are also covered by a full Volvo Gold Contract for maximum uptime and peace of mind.
Located 10 minutes from the Port of Felixstowe, Debach offers warehousing and distribution services throughout the UK.
