I-Save

I-Save is the ideal solution to bring down fuel consumption in long-haul operations – with excellent driveability. The further you drive, the more you can save for a more profitable operation. I-Save is available for Volvo FH Aero and Volvo FH and it combines our D13 engine with turbocompound technology, and the Fuel Package*.

Combining efficient technologies to save fuel

I-Save combines the efficient D13 engine with turbocompound technology and the I-Shift transmission equipped with I-See predictive cruise control. I-See optimises speed, gear changes and coasting to your route ahead. On top of that, I-Save also uses more efficient rear axles and other more energy-saving components and software combined to save fuel.

Save fuel without losing speed

The D13 engine with turbocompound technology produces 300 Nm higher torque at low revs compared to a D13 engine with the same power output but without this technology. This means less downshifts and less fuel is needed to keep a steady speed in highway traffic. Combined with I-See, the engine lets you tackle hills and gradients in a higher gear – saving fuel without losing speed.

I-Shift for long haul

Designed specifically for efficient highway driving, I-Shift with optimized software will help you save fuel. When driving in Economy mode, every gear change is timed precisely so that the engine can work at its most efficient rpm range.

The energy-efficient engine

The D13 engine with turbocompound technology utilizes the available energy at every stage, delivering increased efficiency across the whole rpm range – with the best result in the 900–1300 rpm span. Choose between 420 hp, 460 hp and 500 hp ratings.

I-See

I-See predictive cruise control uses knowledge about the road topography, curves, roundabouts and traffic information ahead to utilize the truck’s kinetic energy in the best way. It uses a high-resolution map for exact positioning. With the cruise control activated, I-See takes care of the gear selection, acceleration, engine braking and coasting to minimize fuel consumption. It’s a vital part of the I-Save package.

A better long-haul drive

I-Save is designed to make a difference in long-haul transport. The improved fuel efficiency has an instant influence on operating costs. And on top of that, I-Save also offers a great driving experience with improved driveability. More torque, lower engine revs and a quieter powertrain are benefits that most drivers appreciate.

* The Fuel Package includes I-See, I-Cruise with I-Roll, fuel-efficient rear axles, engine idle shutdown, and servo pump with variable displacement.
